A Musical Journey through Jewish Space

Wednesday, February 18, 2015, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Rosenberg & Winnick Galleries

Take a musical journey through Yeshiva University Museum’s Modeling the Synagogue – from Dura to Touro, an exhibition that features ten beautifully crafted scale models of historic synagogues from across the Jewish world. Guests will listen – within the gallery, in the company of the models – to musical selections inspired by the synagogues and their communities.

Hosted by cellist Elad Kabilio of MusicTalks, and accompanied by clarinetist, Avigail Malachi-Baev and vocalist, Inbal Sharret-Singer, the program will feature music ranging from Ladino selections inspired by the communities of Amsterdam and Toledo to Klezmer, classical, Israeili and modern American selections inspired by the communities of Zabludow, Dusseldorf, Safed and Newport.

Presented by Yeshiva University Museum and the Center for Jewish History in cooperation with the American Sephardi Federation.

The same program will be offered on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 and Thursday, April 30, 2015.

This program is dedicated to the memory and enduring legacy of Rabbi Aaron Landes, longtime spiritual leader and Rabbi Emeritus of Beth Sholom Congregation, Elkins Park, PA, and Rear Admiral, United States Navy. It is lovingly sponsored by his children and grandchildren.

Tickets $25; $15 for students, seniors, YUM, CJH and ASF members
