The World of Itshak Holtz
For more than 40 years, Holtz, a resident of Washington Heights, NY, has been creating vibrant scenes of American Jewish life, compelling character portraits, and beautiful land and cityscapes of Israel. His paintings are characterized by a mastery of fine detail combined with the dramatic interplay of light and shadow. They are visual expressions of his love for people and his passion for the land of Israel. Holtz’s depictions of urban and rural life are scrupulously rendered and filled with incredible detail. Among his favorite places to paint are New York’s Lower East Side, Williamsburg and Boro Park, as well as Meah Shearim in Jerusalem.
