Tradition and Fantasy in Jewish Needlework

This exhibition was the second major show of contemporary needlework ever to be mounted in the United States. It brought together 120 works by some 60 Jewish and non-Jewish fiber artists. Guest curator Ita Aber, selected works that ranged from traditional embroidery of ritualistic objects, such as Torah mantles and ark curtains, to abstract three-dimensional pieces.
