Treasures of Dubrovnik
The collection of the Jewish community of Dubrovnik is documented for the first time in this catalogue published by Yeshiva University Museum in 1999. Fifty artifacts from the Dubrovnik synagogue are described in detail, many with illustrations. The catalogue also includes an essay on the history of Jews in Dubrovnik - the first scholarly article on this topic in English, by Barisa Krekic, Professor of History, University of California, Los Angeles; an analysis of the ritual textiles by Désirée Koslin of the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York; and a halachic analysis of the 12th century Torah Scroll, by Rabbi Chaim Chernoff. The complex story of the legal battle over the collection is also recounted. A chronology of the Dubrovnik Jewish community is included.
